overview

The project aimed to develop a home design platform for users want to create their own home designs and find inspiration.
Through comprehensive user research, we identified key pain points and introduced useful features, such as AI-based inspiration buttons.
The design process prioritized creating a user-friendly and straightforward interface. Additionally, we collaborated with businesses in the home design industry to provide users with the option to purchase items they selected while designing on the platform.

Problems

A well-designed house is a dream and inspiration for many people. However, not everyone can afford the services of a designer. These individuals wish to purchase furniture and decorative items, but they often lack the imagination and knowledge needed to select items that complement their home’s style or to create a cohesive and harmonious look among all the items

research goals

Understand the challenges and needs of individuals purchasing home furniture without the assistance of a designer or architect.
Identify the challenges people face when purchasing furniture and home decor items.
Investigate current solutions and analyze how they address the problem at hand.

RESEARCH

I conducted in-depth interviews with four women who moved in the past year and had to design their homes and purchase furniture and décor items on their own, without professional assistance.
The interviews featured open-ended questions that addressed the purchasing process, the challenges they faced, their considerations, and what ultimately influenced their decisions.

Competitor analysis

It is easy to find websites that offer assistance to users with apartment plans or blueprints. However, I have not found a site that provides support without requiring a blueprint. Additionally, the existing interfaces tend to be complicated and often lead to confusion and uncertainty about how to navigate them.

self REFLECTION

In this project I learned a great deal about usability, functionality, and components that serve the user.
To be honest, at first, I characterized and designed this platform differently, and after completing it, I felt it was not good enough and it troubled me. After some reflection and thought, I approached the project anew and built a new specification, one that is better, more functional, and clearer for the user.
I also took the design in a different direction and redesigned it, the previous colors were warm tones that conveyed a sense of homeliness and comfort, while the new colors, with green, give the user a feeling of freshness and design innovation.
This is the goal of the platform: to refresh the home independently while ensuring functionality and a wonderful user experience.
